This year our team wanted to share what we learned over the past four years of STEP with the staff. We set aside two professional development days to do it.

Description
This year our team wanted to share what we learned over the past four years of STEP with the staff. We set aside two professional development days to do it.
The first day, all four of us shared all of the cool technology tools we have gotten over the years. We demonstrated how the "Eyeball" worked by talking live from two different spaces in the building. We passed the Flip camera around to our staff members and let them play with them. We showed them the midi-board, digital camera, digital video camera, and headsets with mics.
The next professional development day, we divided the staff into teams. We felt that the teachers needed two things from us, Google Docs and Podcasting/Vodcasting. PK-2 went to the computer lab with Rena and Wendy. They demonstrated how to use Googled Docs. After 20 minutes, this team went to the library. Meanwhile, Susan and Mary Beth were presenting How to Podcast/Vodcast in the library to the teachers in Grades 3-5. We presented a Power Point and modelled how easy it was to create a podcast or vodcast using Audacity and Podomatic. These teachers went to the computer lab after 20 minutes to learn about Google Docs.
Reflection Our Step Team presented a Staff Development Session on Audacity, Podcasting, and Vodcasting. Mary Beth and I presented to half the staff and Wendy and Rena presented to the other half of the staff. After the session, we switched staff members to do another session. Mary Beth and presented the Power Point. We stopped the PP to demo how to use Audacity. Mary Beth and I recorded tracks. I shwed the staff how to edit the clip. Then our groups listened to a Podcast Mary Bethmade on Podomatic and viewed a video posted there. I believe many of the staff members are now interested in creating podcasts and videocasts.
